In a country where more than half the population lives below the poverty line, the barriers kids face to make it into classrooms are extremely high. As a result, today 2 million children in Guatemala, don’t attend school, and sixty percent of the indigenous population cannot read or write while one in five children will not graduate from the 6th grade. The lack of priority on education has made it that many of the schools have not received desks or classroom furniture in over twenty years.

 

At Always On Mission we believe all children should be given an opportunity to receive an education. They should be educated in an environment that expresses to the students that they are important, that school is important. So, we invest in the children and their education by providing new desks for schools.

2022 has brought a sharp increase in prices of these much needed school desks. This will only make it even more difficult for schools to outfit their classrooms with the needed supplies.
